ELHAM NUR FATONI
(YOUNG SURAKARTA)

A young artist from the city of Surakarta who is productive and progressive in creating murals. Since childhood Young Surakarta has been very familiar with the dynamics of the noisy and crowded city villages. In the midst of the hustle and bustle of the city's development, Young Surakarta absorbed energy along with the life stories of market workers, casual workers, to the joy of village children playing in the small alleys of Solo that he encountered, this finally became fuel for his massive work. He started actively working and doing art activities (exhibitions) since entering vocational school. Then with the SAYAP Surakarta young artist project community at Kepatihan Artspace in 2013. And it inspired him to create the name Young Surakarta after Kepatihan Artspace was closed.

Dozens of his mural works are present in the corners of the public space of the city of Solo, for him murals are not just a complement to the aesthetics of city walls, but more than that, Young Surakarta's mural works are able to represent our memories of our hometown, social narratives, daily experiences but remain contextual with the space where the work is present in the midst of the lives of city people. For him, works of art can be present anywhere without the constraints of space and time in the form of murals, so that works of art can be enjoyed by anyone while also having a positive impact on the social environment where the work is present.
